Fill the foot of an old nylon stocking with 1/2 cup of eucalyptus leaves, 1/2 cup of fresh chamomile and 1/2 cup of oatmeal. Tie a knot in the nylon and gently crush the leaves.

Draw a hot bath, as hot as you can handle, and drop the herb filled stocking into the water. As the water is running, add 15 drops of
rosemary

Most of what I do centers around using herbs to help support and encourage health. But I also keep a collection of my favorite essential oils. I find that the two support each other very well because they are made from different parts of the plant, and therefore have different uses.

One of my favorite ways to use essential oil is around the home, particularly as a room spray. The wonderful thing about creating a room spray is that once you learn the technique, you can use your favorite essential oils.

The recipe I am featuring here includes my favorite combination: peppermint,
rosemary
and grapefruit. It's bright and energizing and I love to spray it in my office while I'm working to help enhance my concentration. However, you can use any essential oil or combination that you want.







Things You'll Need:





4-oz. glass spray bottle (amber or blue)




1-oz. vodka or other clear spirit (at least 80 proof)




3 drops peppermint essential oil




2 drops rosemary essential oil




2 drops grapefruit essential oil




Water (enough to fill the rest of the container)

Add vodka or other clear spirit to the glass or amber jar.

Add the essential oils. Cover and shake vigorously for a few seconds.

Add water until the jar is full. Cover and shake again.

Let it sit in a cool, dark place for at least a day before you start using it.

Some essential oil companies sell essential oil blends that you may want to try as well. Just make sure they contain pure essential oils and no additives.








Do not spray this blend on your skin. Grapefruit essential oil can make your skin sensitive to sunlight, and peppermint and rosemary can irritate tender tissues.

If you prefer not to use a commercial breath spray, and want to go with something natural and refreshing, natural essential oil-based breath sprays are ideal. There are a variety of different formulas that you can create to freshen your breath. Here are the steps to make two of them.







Things You'll Need:





Pure essential oils




Mist spray bottle (4 fluid ounces)




Purified water




Honey

Buy honey, preferably a local variety if available. Local honey has the added benefit of helping you build up resistance to local pollens.

Choose 100 percent pure essential oils as only these offer healthful benefits. The label will state "100% pure." You can find them at health food stores and online. Don’t use synthetic oils because they do not have the same benefits.

Choose which formula you prefer based on what you like to smell and taste. Formula #1 uses lemon and
lavender
essential oils. Formula #2 uses cinnamon and orange essential oils.

Prepare the breath spray bottle. Fill the bottle with 4 fluid ounces (or 120 ml) of purified water.

Add the oils for Formula #1. To the water, add 10 drops each of lemon and of lavender essential oil. Add 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) of honey. Cap the bottle and shake well to mix ingredients. Go to Step 7.

Add the oils for Formula #2. To the water, add 10 drops each of cinnamon and orange essential oil. Add 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) of honey. Cap the bottle and shake well to mix ingredients. Go to Step 7.

Spray 1 or 2 times directly into your mouth to freshen your breath.








Tips & Warnings










You can make larger batches of the breath spray rather than just one at a time by using multiples of 4 ounces (8, 16, 32) and adding the proportionate ratio of drops.








Store the bottle in a cool place to protect the contents. Avoid direct sunlight.








Ongoing bad breath may be a symptom of tooth decay or digestive health issues. If bad breath persists, consult your health care professional.

High blood pressure can be a symptom of other serious conditions that may need treatment. Let your doctor know that you're using meditation or other self-care techniques to lower blood pressure.








Always discontinue any Qigong activity if you feel dizziness or severe pain and seek medical attention right away.








Before you start any alternative medical technique, be aware that many have not been scientifically evaluated. Often, only limited information is available about their safety and effectiveness.
